Eric Medoff

Special Counsel

Eric Medoff is Special Counsel with Arktouros PLLC.  Eric’s experience spans multinational U.S. companies and leadership positions in OFAC and the Department of State. Most recently, as the Global Head of Economic Sanctions and Trade Compliance, Eric spearheaded the strategic development and implementation of Block Inc.’s comprehensive global economic sanctions and trade compliance programs. Prior to his tenure at Block Inc., Eric served as a Sanctions Compliance Manager at Amazon.com, where he was one of the leaders tasked with building Amazon’s Compliance Program and managing the relationship with the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).  


Before joining the private sector, Eric was a Chief in the Licensing Division at OFAC. While there, he managed programs related to Iran, Lebanon, Sudan, Syria, and Counter Terrorism Sanctions Regulations. Prior to his tenure at Treasury, Eric was the Global Sanctions Team Lead and Senior Advisor to the Sanctions Ambassador at the U.S. Department of State, where he served as a point of contact for sanctions policy, import/export licensing, and delisting requests, effectively shaping U.S. sanctions programs while navigating intricate international relationships. Notably, he was recognized and honored for outstanding work in crafting and implementing the Ukraine sanctions program as part of the U.S. response to Russian aggression.


Eric has presented on sanctions issues at the Chatham House, ACI Conferences, and ACAMS events, served as an adjunct law professor at The George Washington University School of Law, and is licensed to practice in D.C. and Florida.
